Group will respond to pieces of writing via prompts in 5-10 minute writing times, then circle back with the group. Introductory breathing exercise. Sharing optional, not required! Suggested donation: $100 per three week session.

The Artist’s Way Book Reading and Accountability Group

    • Wednesdays 11am-12:30pm PST (January 27 - April 21, 2021)

If you are feeling as desperate for beauty and to recover some of your own creative nature, join us starting this coming week to read and participate in Julia Cameron's The Artist's Way. This is slightly audacious, humbling work where we will write every morning for 12 weeks, take ourselves on solo artist dates and ask the massive and sometimes absurd questions around our ideas about creativity, worth and value. Lots of discussion each week, plus encouragement, a writing prompt and a breath exercise. Suggested donation: $300 per 12-week series

    Details:

    • COST: In the spirit of creating space for people of all walks of life to participate, I am offering a donation-based tuition model for all my workshops.
    • The donation-based tuition is voluntary and paid at registration. My hope is that folks who have more can donate more, so that people who have less can freely participate.
    • The writing is for internal processing and personal exploration, and won't be focused on publishing or promoting. You will be invited to share bits of your writing with the group, but definitely will not be pressured or obligated to do so. This is not therapy nor medical advice--if you are in crisis, dial 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
    • Mindy's happiest days are facilitating writing workshops for people going through the stuff of life. She fell hard for poetry and painting as a way of dealing with her own anxiety, trauma and chronic pain and considers them a central part of her healing process. Her Masters in Teaching and studies in philosophy, writing and art are the backbone to her workshop design. She and her son are happily planted at the base of a dormant volcano in Portland, Oregon.
